Obituary

Donald Pulsifer, 63, of Plattsburgh, passed away on September 21, 2026, at his home, with his family by his side.

Donald was born on October 1, 1962, in Keene Valley, the son of Wallace Pulsifer, Jr. and Patricia (Adams) Pulsifer.

For 43 years, Donald worked as a snowmaker at Whiteface Mountain, where he earned the nickname "Slusher." The name came from the countless hours he spent digging slush out of the snowmaking machines, work that was cold and thankless but that he did without complaint so others could enjoy the mountain. Generations of skiers carved turns on snow that Donald helped make.

When he wasn't on the mountain, Donald could often be found with a fishing line in the water, especially at the Toll House at Whiteface and at Au Sable Point. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan through every season, good or bad, and he rarely passed up the chance to stop at Stewart's for a coffee and a conversation with friends.

Nothing mattered more to Donald than his daughter, Nichole, and his grandson, Ryder. Every year he took them to Santa's Workshop in Wilmington, a tradition they all treasured. He was a caring man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it, and those who knew him will remember his generosity and kindness.

Donald is survived by his daughter, Nichole Pulsifer (Andrew Reyell); his grandson, Ryder Reyell; his siblings, Wally (Cory) Pulsifer, Margaret (Joe) LaBombard, Anna (Mike) Borden, and Chet (Sharon) Pulsifer; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, which would have been Donald's 64th birthday, from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m. at Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home in Au Sable Forks. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Holy Name Cemetery.
