Doris Akey

Doris M. Akey, 98, went home to heaven October 1, 2024. She was born in Wilmington, NY, daughter to Sam and Jeannette (Lewis) Stanley. She graduated AuSable Forks High School in 1942. She married Howard Expedit Akey July 15th, 1946 at the Holy Name Church in AuSable Forks. She was a member of the Holy Name Church and of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She studied nursing science at Champlain Valley Hospital in 1943. She was an avid reader and could never read too much. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and crossword puzzles.

Left to cherish her memories are son Harold Akey and wife Linda; her daughter Cheryl Aubin and husband Paul.

She was predeceased by her husband, daughter CeCelia Richardson, son David Akey and grandchildren Joey and Steve Aubin.

Also left to cherish memories are her grandchildren Craig Mitchell, Samuel Akey, Andrew Aubin, Angela Ouimette, Harold Akey, and Jessi Thwaits. There also several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including James Akey who was her Godson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name Church in Au Sable Forks. Interment will take place immediately follow Mass at Holy Name Cemetery.
