Dorothy Colby

Dorothy Ann (Champain) Colby of Peru New York passed peacefully into the arms of the Universe surrounded by her children and grandchildren on June 9, 2024.

Dorothy was a no nonsense, soft spoken, kind woman. She was easy to love and rarely had an angry word for anyone. She dedicated her life to her husband and family. She was always available for a cup of coffee and a chat.

Left to remember Dorothy are her adoring husband Joseph; daughter Lora; son Richard; son-in-law Scott; daughter-in-law Dawn; grandsons Christopher, Joseph, and Austin; granddaughter Samantha; great-grandchildren Ben, Caroline, Joshua, and Alisa; her sister Fran; and her brother Kenny.

Dorothy was welcomed into the Universe by her mother Florence; father Francis; siblings Evelyn, Marion, Gordon, Betty, and Tommy; and her grandsons, Seth and Tyler.

Dorothy was the wife of a military man with over 20 years of service. She was a dedicated direct care provider and a partner in Loose Threads Quilt Shop. In her later years, Dorothy could be found creating beautiful quilts in her studio or tending to her garden.

Rest in peace Dorothy. You will be deeply missed by all who knew you.
