Dorothy (Egan) Malkin, 93, of Wilmington, N.Y. passed away gracefully at home on October 24, 2021. Dot was born on November 14, 1927 in New York City to John and Mary Egan. She attended Cathedral High School graduating in 1944. She then attended Good Counsel College and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1948.
Dorothy married Harold Malkin on February 6, 1954 and together they raised five children: Ann Marie, Christine, John, Christopher, and Suzanne.
Harold and Dot moved to the Adirondacks in 1990 after retiring from NYS as a MHTA, and made it their home. Dorothy was an active member and devout Catholic parishioner of St. Margaret's Community. She enjoyed watching and coaching her children and grandchildren, she never missed Meghan's games or track meets! Dorothy loved to sew and made many costumes and dresses for her children and grandchildren. She loved family visits, dinners, skiing, and horses; as well as football and hockey. She loved to laugh, take country rides, read, and do crossword puzzles; she also had a great sense of humor, always saying "I'm the last of the Egan's" outliving all of her siblings.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Harold; her siblings Marie Shea, John Egan, Thomas Egan, William Egan, and Francis Egan; and, son-in-law Michael Lynch.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Ann Lynch and significant other Matt Rinta-Turri, Christine (Michael) Lydle, John (Angela) Malkin, Christopher Malkin and significant other Lisa Ardizzone, and Suzanne (Randall) Riley. Her grandchildren: Michael Lynch, Faron Soto, Eric Rice, Will Lydle, Matthew and Lindsey Malkin, Kevin Malkin, Christopher Malkin, Amanda Malkin, and Meghan Crowe; and, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
