Obituary

Drew Sayre Shelton, 39, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, after a courageous 7 month battle with cancer. He was born on September 4, 1986, to Judy Sayre Shelton and Bill Shelton. Raised in Frankford, New Jersey, Drew developed an early love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He could often be found casting a line in Branchville or exploring new spots along Old Mine Road.

Drew attended High Point Regional High School, where he was a great athlete, playing soccer, basketball, and baseball. He also had a natural curiosity for mechanics and enjoyed working with engines and anything he could take apart and rebuild. When a subject sparked his interest, he approached it with complete focus and determination.

He went on to attend The College of New Jersey, earning a degree in Psychology. After graduation, Drew worked as a teacher for several years before discovering his true calling-helping those living with chronic pain and conditions often overlooked by traditional medicine. He pursued this passion wholeheartedly, earning his Doctorate in Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY. The Finger Lakes region became one of his and Taylor's favorite places, and where their life together truly began-he proposed at Taughannock Falls, and he spent much of his downtime from studying fishing on their boat and waterfowling on Cayuga Lake.

In 2021, Drew fulfilled a long-term goal by opening his own chiropractic office in Lake Placid, New York, High Peaks Chiropractic. There, he built more than a practice-he cultivated a close-knit community of patients and friends who valued his compassion, dedication, and genuine care. Drew was known for his empathetic approach and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others. His excellence did not go unnoticed, as he was honored with the title of Best Chiropractic Practice in the Adirondack Region for four consecutive years. Outside of his work, Drew found great joy in trout fishing on Lake Placid with his wife and their beloved chocolate lab, Hatch, creating peaceful moments on the water that he cherished deeply.

Drew is survived by his wife, Taylor Shelton of Lake Placid, New York; his parents, Judy and Bill Shelton of Frankford, New Jersey; his brother and sister-in-law, Scott Shelton and Karen Rossmassler of Aurora, Colorado; and his niece, Leah Shelton.

Arrangements were entrusted to Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home, PO Box 127, 3 College St., Au Sable Forks, NY 12912.
