Our beloved father Erminio Lamanna passed away peacefully while residing at Elderwood Nursing Home, Lake Placid, NY, shortly following his 94th birthday. He is survived by 3 sons, Robert, Richard and Ronald.

Mino, as he was called by family and friends, was born in Bellmore, NY, August 7, 1930. He grew up during the Great Depression, and worked in his father Joseph's tailor shop, developing a fondness for drawing. Following in the footsteps of his 3 brothers who served in WW2, Mino enlisted in the air force during the Korean conflict, after which attended college at Hofstra on the GI bill, acquiring degrees in teaching and fine arts. Mino spent his career as a high school art teacher and was voted multiple years as the most popular teacher at Kings Park High School, where he instructed for over 30 years. Mino also was active with the NY State Teachers Union and the NEA.

He first met his wife Frances, on the LI Railroad while commuting to work, he as an artist for the Mack Truck Company and Frances as a legal secretary. With a passion for education, together they opened and operated Camp Lamann in Smithtown, NY, first as a nursery school, later successfully expanding to a summer camp. It brought much joy and wonderful memories to the family and community throughout their long and happy marriage.

Mino leaves behind his children Robert Lamanna, Richard Lamanna and Ronald Lamanna; grandchildren, Robert Jr., Victoria, Domonique, and Dina; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances, 2017, and his brothers Anthony, Bruno and William Lamanna. There will be a future service and celebration of his life in Wilmington, NC where most of the family now resides.
