Jackie Holmes

Thelma "Jackie" Jacqueline Holmes, a beloved member of the Wilmington community and a dedicated teacher left our world peacefully on September 7, 2023, at the age of 87.

Born on November 8, 1935, Jackie was the daughter of Harold and Thelma Holmes. She grew up surrounded by love and values that shaped her into the compassionate and caring person she became. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to obtain a Bachelor's Degree, which she used to inspire countless young minds throughout her teaching career.

Jackie had a love for education and dedicated her life to shaping the lives of the next generation. She was a teacher who went above and beyond, always striving to ignite curiosity and instill a love for learning in her students. Her enthusiasm in the classroom was infectious, and she created an environment that encouraged self-expression, creativity, and growth.

Beyond her devotion to education, Jackie had a deep affection for animals. Her home was a sanctuary for four-legged friends of all kinds, and she would often provide comfort and care to those in need. Jackie's commitment to the well-being of animals was a testament to her compassionate nature.

Jackie leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, former colleagues, and the countless students whose lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her dear friend Jean Cochrane and her parents.

She is survived by her beloved dog Ubi.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Haseltine Cemetery, Wilmington, NY.

Thelma Jacqueline Holmes will forever remain in our hearts, and her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. May she rest in eternal peace.
