Jeanne Matyas

Jeanne M. Matyas, 81, of Plattsburgh, passed away peacefully at CVPH on May 21, 2025. She was born on July 1, 1943, to Benjamin "Paul" and Evelyn "Lucille" Coolidge.

Jeanne attended Au Sable Forks High School and was a stay-at-home mom raising her three children and later attending Our Lady of Victory Secretarial School. Jeanne later obtained her insurance license and worked for many insurance agencies; she also worked for HCR as an aide caring for many people.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She expressed repeatedly how much she loved and cared for her family; they meant the world to her.

Jeanne was also a very social lady. She belonged to many organizations including Business and Professional Women and the Red Hat Society. She went to Washington with other women and met with Hillary Clinton to lobby for women's rights.

She enjoyed going on vacation to Maine with her husband, John. She also loved to play hockey, golf, and go bowling with him.

Jeanne also went on cruises with her friends and enjoyed playing cards and games with her lady friends. Her home cooked meals and family gatherings meant everything to her. Her love, kindness and quickness to forgive will forever be remembered.

Jeanne is survived by her husband John Matyas; her three children from her first marriage, James T. Douglass, Jr., Janine (Dave) Hackett, Jon (Jessie) Douglass; as well as John's daughter Corilee; her sister Mary Beth Coolidge; brother-in-law Paul Hoye; sister-in-law Val Coolidge; and daughter-in-law Robin Douglass; her grandchildren, Jaime Rose, Josh (Amber), Brody (Alex), Bryce (Kyle), Austin (Jessica), Troy (Paige), Brooklyn, Elizabeth, Raegan, and Kasym. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Killian, Lena, Carson, Lochlan, Rory, Finn, and Riley, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her siblings P.K. Coolidge and Grace Hoye whom she missed dearly.

A heartfelt gratitude of appreciation to all of Jeanne's caregivers at Meadowbrook and CVPH.

At Jeanne's request, the services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Rest in peace dearest mother. Your love and memories will live on. This is not goodbye but rather "Until we meet again".
