With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Elizabeth Liberty, a beloved mother, sister, grandma and devoted nurse. Born on June 12, 1931, in Au Sable Forks, NY, Joan peacefully departed this world on May 20, 2024 at the age of 92. She was a woman of great strength and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Joan's dedication to the medical field as a nurse reflected her caring and nurturing nature, embodying a deep passion for helping others. She embarked on her nursing career following graduation from the CVPH nursing school. Her love for nursing was only rivaled by her love for her family. Joan raised six children, who survive her, Mark, Christopher, Brian, Jeffrey, Neal, and Joanne, and daughter-in-law Gwen Ahrent, with the love and support, that embodies the essence of motherhood. She is also survived by her brother Alfred Bombard and her sister Linda Singleton.
A true woman of faith, Joan was a devoted member of the Altar Society at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Keeseville, finding solace in her spirituality and community. Her independence and resilience were inspiring, a testament to her spirit in the face of life's challenges. Despite life's trials, Joan found joy in every moment, whether it be through her love of dance, travel, or simply sharing laughter with loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her eldest grandson Abel Lee Nadolski; her parents, and several siblings.
In honoring Joan's memory, visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name Church by Fr. Kris Lauzon on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., she will be laid to rest at Holy Name Cemetery immediately following the service. A reception will be held at the V.F.W. Post 1505, 1309 US-9, Keeseville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Birthright of Plattsburgh, 50 Clinton St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
Let us come together to celebrate the remarkable life of Joan Elizabeth Liberty, a woman whose presence enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her spirit continue to dance and shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
