John Doner

John "Jack" Doner, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Au Sable Forks with his loving family by his side.

John was born on July 9, 1931 in Peru, NY to Richard and Edna (Pelkey) Doner. On February 5, 1959, he married Mary Agnes LaFountain and to this union five children were born.

John worked at J & J Rogers in Au Sable Forks for many years until he became disabled. He also worked at Haselton Lumber where he enjoyed chatting with customers. One of things he was most proud of was his service in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed playing cards and doing puzzles while listening to country music. A hobby that he loved was building birdhouses, and pretty much anything else out of popsicle sticks. John also enjoyed looking through countless pictures and changing the pictures in his picture frames.

Preceding him in death are his wife; parents; son Randall R. Doner; sisters Jenny Quay, Marion Guynup, Lillian Cayea, and Rose Trant; grandchild Desaray Doner; great-grandchild Deegan Crary;

He is survived by his children Elaine Doner, Richard Doner, Sr., Loriann Doner, and Thomas Doner; grandchildren Melissa "Missy" Doner, Christian Crump, Kristen Sousie, Ashley Doner, Nathan Doner, Ashtin Doner, Tia Doner, Richard "RJ" Doner, and Brianna Doner; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Tiffanie, Joseph, Hailey, Rose, Aowen, Skyler, Austin, Alexis, Annika, Jonathan, Joshua, Christopher, and Harley; great-great grandchildren Carson, Amara, Porter, Maverick, Richard, and Izzabellah; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home, Au Sable Forks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name Church in Au Sable Forks on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the spring at Holy Name Cemetery.
