John Follos

Voorheesville, N.Y. - John E. Follos Jr., 81 of Voorheesville, N.Y. and Venice, FL, formerly of Wilmington, N.Y. passed away on Tuesday August 22, 2023, in one of his favorite places to be, Lake Placid, NY.

John was born in Troy, N.Y. on May 18th, 1942. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Springfield as a PC3 from 1963 to 1967, which upon return launched him into his career with the United States Postal Service for 31 years, finishing as Postmaster in Voorheesville for 18 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian C. Follos to whom he cherished being married to for 56 years and their 3 children, Lisa VanLare (Michael) of Hanover, MA, Eric Follos (Christine) of Delmar, N.Y. and Rebecca Wilson (Michael) of Voorheesville, N.Y.. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Ron (Tina) Follos of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Gary (Alison) Follos of Venice, FL and David (Lisa) Follos of Ocala, FL.

He is now with his loving sister Barbara Ruben and his parents John and Estelle Follos who predeceased him. John leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and 6 grand nieces and nephews.

John had a heart of gold and loved his family immensely. He touched the lives of many people in his community. His kind soul will be deeply missed by all.

A Memorial Service will be held in Voorheesville, NY at the United Methodist Church on Saturday September 9th, 2023 at 10am. A private burial will also be held in Wilmington, NY at the Haselton Cemetery at a later date, yet to be determined.

Donations can be made to Karie Jean's Closet, Kiwanis of New Scotland or the Voorheesville United Methodist Church in Voorheesville, NY, all of which he was greatly involved with thru the years.
