June (Douglas) Gallant joined her son Arlen, parents Florence and Roger, her partner Ed, brother Arlen and wife Ellie, ex-husband Phillip, grand-daughter Cassie Miller in heaven Christmas Eve, 2022. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family in Southern Florida.
She will be celebrated and brought home to rest with her ancestors in Au Sable Forks, NY on May 13, 2023.
June was raised on Sliver Lake and returned in her late forties. She retired and moved to Florida in 2003 along with her daughters Lori Miller, Jill Owen and families to Ft Myers, joining Arlen in Southern Florida.
June was born May 14, 1935 and grew up on Silver Lake, Hawkeye, NY. She graduated from Champlain Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 as a Registered Nurse along with her best friend Ellie (Roach) Douglas. She was a dedicated Nurse for 45 years. After graduation she moved to Miami where she met Phil Gallant, was married and they began their family. They moved shortly after to North Reading, MA where the family grew to a family of four; Barry, Lori, Jill and Arlen.
She is survived by her son Barry and wife Doreen Gallant and grandchildren Nicole and Erik, daughter Lori Miller and husband Jack and granddaughter Katie, daughter Jill Owen and granddaughter Sara, daughter-in law Fanny Gallant and grandchildren Samantha, Matthew and Amber, niece Karyn (Douglas) Ware nephew Kirk A. Douglas.
In her retirement she spent time with her local parish Pope John Paul the 23rd volunteering on numerous community projects along weekly laundering of communal vestments. She loved to spend time with her family teaching them canning, baking, knitting, gardening and many other crafts. Her specialty was baking her favorites coffee cake and sourdough bread. She also loved spending time outside, one could always find her walking with her chihuahua Finny and visiting with neighbors.
A Private Family gathering will be held on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home in Au Sable Forks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name Church in Au Sable Forks, N.Y. on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to your local parish in her memory.
