Obituary

Kathryn (Kathy) Darrah Wade died peacefully at home on April 10, 2026. Kathryn was the daughter of the late George Darrah and Sadie (Marie) Pelkey Darrah of Jay. Born on March 27, 1947, Kathy lived a life grounded in devotion, tenderness, and the simple joys that brought her deep happiness.

On July 9, 1966, she married the love of her life, Charles Wade. Together they built a family, a home, and a lifetime of memories. In 1986, Kathy and Charlie moved to Connecticut, where they lived until their retirement. After retiring, they returned to New York in 2009, coming home to the place where their story began. Their marriage spanned nearly five decades until Charlie's passing in 2014, and Kathy carried his memory with her always.

Kathy is survived by her children: Kelly Gonzalez and her husband Luis; Deborah Wade and her partner Daniel Gallagher; Patricia Wade and her partner William Gallagher; and Charles Wade and his wife Lauren. She is also survived by her grandchildren-Trinita Shepperson and her husband Michael, Caitlin Gallagher, Christopher Gallagher and his wife Amanda, Quentin Gonzalez and his wife Samantha, and Elise Wade-and her great‑grandchildren: Leiden Shepperson, Michael Shepperson, Zairyn Shepperson, Ezra Gonzalez, and Peyton Gallagher. In addition, she leaves behind sisters‑in‑laws, brothers‑in‑laws, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom she loved very much.

Kathy is predeceased by her parents, George Darrah and Sadie Marie (Pelkey) Darrah; her brother, George Darrah; several brothers‑ and sisters‑in‑law; cousins; nieces; nephews; and friends.

Family was the center of Kathy's world. Her love language was food, and she delighted in feeding the people she cared about-meals, treats, and little comforts that said "I love you" without needing any words. She treasured her photographs, her memories, and every moment spent with the people she loved. She enjoyed going out for a ride, going shopping, and sharing lunch outings-small adventures that filled her days with connection and contentment. At home, her furry family members were her constant companions, and she doted on them with the same warmth she gave to everyone around her.

May the tenderness she gave so generously live on in every meal shared, every story remembered, every moment of quiet connection.

Services were entrusted to Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 127, 3 College St., Au Sable Forks, NY 12912.
