Patricia Widener, 78, passed away on July 30, 2022, at CVPH in Plattsburgh after a long valiant battle with Cancer.

Patricia was born on June 17, 1944 in Albany, NY, to Catherine (Rita) and Loyal Beardsley.

Patricia graduated from AuSable Forks High School in 1962, after which she enlisted in the United States Army. Pat served as a Finance Officer and was the only woman in her Pay Specialty Course. Pat also earned a Sharp Shooters Certification during her Training. Pat raised her children in Security, CO. until 1978, when she moved her family to Gardiner, Maine. Pat worked for MSAD11, Gardiner Area Schools, which her children attended. Pat changed careers becoming a Motor Vehicle Registrar for the State of Maine DMV, until her retirement. After retirement, Pat returned to her family home in AuSable Forks, NY, where she lived until her passing.

Patricia was a dedicated member of The American Legion. Pat was a member of Gardiner Post #4 and AuSable Post #504. Pat served in the Post Color Guard and as Post Chaplain.

Pat will be remembered for her love of dancing, her sharp wit, her unfailing honesty, and her love for her family and friends. She was a dedicated letter writer, card sender and her address books were thick! Pat was know for her kind heart and ease to talk too. She made friends everywhere she went. Her guilty pleasures were peanut butter pie and Rulfs apple donuts.

In her younger years Pat was an excellent bowler and won many trophies.

Patricia is survived by her- Son, Leonard and Cynthia Widener of Meriden, CT, Daughter, Yvonne (Widener) Taylor of Spirit Lake, IA, Sister, Linda and Paul Galey of Latham, NY., Brother, Gary and Doris Beardsley of Albany, NY; her Grandchildren- Veronica, Erica, Alden, Gabby, Megan, Katherine, and CallieOra; and her Great-Grandchildren - Alexander, Nathaniel, and Zachery

Patricia was preceded in death by her Parents Catherine and Loyal Beardsley, of AuSable Forks, NY. and her beloved Kitty Cat Muffin!

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Zaumetzer funeral Home, 3 College St., Au Sable Forks.

We invite family and friends to attend the Services for Patricia Widener to be held on Saturday, August 6th, at 11:00 AM, at the Holy Name Church, AuSable Forks, NY with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, in AuSable Forks, NY., with full Military Honors, all are welcome.

There will also be a private ceremony at the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Wadhams, NY.

Memorial donations can be made in Patricia's name to The American Cancer Society and/or the American Legion.
