Paul Anthony
Aubin
August 25, 1952 – May 13, 2026
Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home
1:00 - 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
Paul Anthony Aubin went to be with his Heavenly Father May 13th, 2026. He was born August 25th, 1952, to Richard Joseph and Helen Frances (Connors) Aubin.
Paul grew up in Jay NY, where he spent his summers at the Rapids (after chores). He loved "Conquering the Chute". In his winters, he would ride his arctic cat snowmobile with Lloyd Brewer (summers were minibikes). They would climb Paleface and beyond. His best friend was Chester Shalton and they would cruise down the highway in his Buick Electra (a boat). They would end up down in Poughkeepsie checking out an all-girls college. He cherished those memories.
He graduated from Au Sable Valley the second year Au Sable merged with Keeseville in 1970. He also graduated from BOCES, where he learned refrigeration, electrical, and small appliance repair. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix!
He and his brother Bob worked on and owned too many cars to mention, and he finally got his baby, a 1958 Austin Healey Bug-Eyed Sprite.
He served in the Army from 1974-77 with an honorable discharge. He served in Germany and went back with the Guard. He had many stories about his beloved Germany. He couldn't believe they drank beer in monasteries and that's where they brewed it.
He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Cheryl (Akey) Aubin, son Andrew Paul (Kellie-Ann), and Angi (Bill) Ouimette. Four grandchildren, Taylor Aubin, Aaron Aubin, Connor Ouimette, and Greyson Ouimette. He also leaves behind his loving siblings Richard (Selinda) Aubin, Robert (JoAnne) Aubin, Gayle (Mike) Mero, Helen (Tracy) Kennedy, and brother-in-law Elliot Hurwitz.
He was predeceased by two of his sons, Steve Aubin and Joey Aubin, his brother Ralph Walen and his beloved sister Val Hurwitz. His father died when he was five years old, and his love of his life mother died when he was seventeen years old. He was also predeceased by his stepfather John Wirt, and stepmother Roberta Wirt. He also leaves behind his step siblings Janet (Ferguson) Morgan, Bob Ferguson, and Gary Ferguson.
He retired from FCI Ray Brook where he was the Computer Services Manager. People would tell him they wanted him back for years after. He retired at fifty years old and enjoyed life thoroughly. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed his bourbon, loved life and loved all of his family deeply. His message in the end was love; there is nothing else more important. Rest In Peace, Love, you will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be held at Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral home, May 29th at 1:00 pm. A get together will be at Paul and Cheryl's house immediately following. All are invited.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Elmore SPCA or Shriners.
Services were entrusted to Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home, PO Box 127, 3 College St., Au Sable Forks, NY 12912.
