Ralph Coolidge

Ralph N. Coolidge, 80, of Jay, passed away peacefully at Elizabethtown Community Hospital, with his family by his side on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Born on November 7, 1944, he was the son of Rose and Henry Coolidge, Sr.

Ralph was first employed at North Country School and Camp Tree Top as a gardener, then employed at Lake Placid Granite and finally worked for the NYSDOT until his retirement in 2004. He was a lifetime member of the Upper Jay Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid hunter, gardener, and fisherman, and he loved everything to do with the great outdoors. You could always find him outside either working in the gardens, the yard, or enjoying his hunting or fishing with family.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his daughter Sara (Patrick) Devlin; daughter-in-law Heather Coolidge; stepchildren, Henry (Holly) Coolidge, Helen Coolidge, Rosie Winchell, James (Melissa) Coolidge, and Frank (Kim) Coolidge; grandchildren Cody (Krista) Melville, Alesha Melville, Daniel (Cassie) Coolidge, Makayla (Brandon) Wallburg, Zach (Laurel Wallace) Coolidge, Alyssa (Michael Brown) Coolidge, Arielle (Shay Collins) Coolidge; and several great-grandchildren; brother Martin (Mary) Coolidge; sisters Carolyn McGee, Lola (Alan) Porter, Joyce (Larry) Scovell; brother-in-law Mitch (Carmen) Terry; sister-in-law Edna Coolidge; his first wife Karen Coolidge; brothers-in-law Bob (Louise) LeClair and Dave (Barb) LeClair; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his son Daniel; his brothers Harold, Fred, George, Henry, Jr.; his sisters Freida Giguere, and Violet Terry; in-laws Ralph and Kay LeClair, Greg and Bunny LeClair; stepson Norman Coolidge, Sr., and stepson-in-law Richard Winchell.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at CVPH and Elizabethtown Hospital for the care and support given to Ralph and the family during this difficult time.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Upper Jay Fire House on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:30 a.m.
