Rene Y. Goyette, Jr. 86, of Peru, New York, died Thursday, June 2, 2022, at home with Hospice of the North Country with family by his side.
Rene was born in St. Chrysostom, Quebec Canada on April 5, 1936, he was the son of Rene and Mary (Baker) Goyette. He attended Keeseville Parochial School and Keeseville High School.
He served in United States ARMY in the Berlin Cold War 1959-1961. He owned and operated his own fishing business called Mountain Valley Fisheries. Rene was an avid fishman, outdoorsman and trapper. Most days depending on weather winter or summer you could find Rene on Lake Champlain fishing. He had an outstanding reputation as a carpenter and home builder. He never had a lack of work as a carpenter because of his reputation.
He is survived by the love of his life Veronica DiDomenico of Meadowbrook Nursing Home. His sisters Stella & Rick Vandegrift of Kissimmee FL, Huguette Taylor of Dade City FL. His close nephew George & Michelle Goyette of Au Sable Forks, niece Tammy Bola of Au Sable Forks; and several nieces and nephews. He was such an outgoing person, that he made 100's of life friends, from here to Vermont.
Pre-deceased his father Rene Sr. of Canada, his mother Mary of Keeseville, and his stepmother Monique of Canada. His Siblings Rose & Doug Simmons of FL, Gloria Forbes of FL, George & Mary Goyette of AuSable Forks, Margaret & Dick Massey of FL, Dorothy Daugherty of FL.
At his request, there will be no service or calling hours.
Arrangements were entrusted to Zaumetzer Funeral Home, Au Sable Forks.
