Richard James Tanner, 80, of Rochester, passed away on January 8th, 2024 after a long illness. He proudly served in the Navy on the USS Springfield during the Vietnam War Era and was a proud family member/employee of R.E. Tanner Line Construction during his youth, where he installed many of the high voltage lines that built the Rochester area. The remainder of his career he spent as an electrician with Eastman-Kodak Col and retired after 25 years.

He had always been fond of automobiles and built several over the years that he was very proud of. Through this hobby, he built many relationships with many others who shared the same passion as he had. Along with the fun of finding parts and building old machines, he enjoyed the local car clubs and shows. He had also maintained strong bonds with lifelong friendships he had created from childhood. Richard cherished these and never took his friends for granted.

Richard also had numerous dogs over the years and loved each and every one of them. Some he traveled the countryside with and others kept him company while at his home in Fairport.

Above all, he loved all of his grandchildren and they will forever be in his heart.
