Shirley Aubin

August 3, 1942 — October 23, 2020

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Shirley Jean (Craig) Aubin, of Au Sable Forks, NY. She left this world on October 23, 2020 in Nashville, TN, while visiting two of her daughters. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend to all whose lives she touched.

She was born to Loren R. and Sarah M. Craig, on August 3, 1942, in Schenectady, NY.

On July 7, 1977 Shirley married her soul-mate, traveling partner, best friend and husband, Raymond C. Aubin.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; four daughters, Cheri Hanley (Bob), Lori Bezio (Tim), Tracey Tavano, (Chris), and Samantha Morris (Brad); honorary daughter, Jessica Locklin (Brian); eleven grandchildren, Heather, Thomas, Tyler, Trista, Kayla, Sarah, Joel, Megan, Alex, Abbigail and Emily; two honorary grandchildren, Emily and Jonathan; eleven great-grandchildren, Kali, Mylea, Nolan, Alauna, Porter, Sadie, Farrah, Allyzza, Caiden, Cambrie and Charlotte; brother, Robert L. Craig (Sheila) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Loren R. and Sarah M. Craig, and her two sisters, Patricia M. LaGoy (Milton) and Lorna Z. Parrow (Len).

For many years, Shirley worked for the Au Sable Valley Telephone Company and also the Advocacy & Resource Center. Her life's mission though, was to make everyone smile... and, she did just that.

She treasured her family and embraced every moment she spent with them. She spent a lot of time enjoying the chipmunks, squirrels and birds that flooded her yard. Her great-grandchildren loved going to her house and helping her feed them and watched as they climbed onto "little gram's" lap. One of her greatest pleasures, was to watch the antics of her grand-cats and grand-dogs and see all the crazy, funny things they did. Shirley also enjoyed trying her luck with lottery tickets or at any casino, going to yard sales, thrift shops and flea markets. She was a kind-hearted, unselfish, genuine human being, yet, she was strong willed and opinionated. Her strong faith had a great role in her life and was very important to her.

The love and adoration for her family and the way she lived her life was a huge example for all of us to follow.

We will be holding a memorial service at a later date. At that time, please help us to celebrate her life, at Zaumetzer Funeral Home in Au Sable Forks, NY.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
